Korine

My name is Korine. I have been involved in working with animals since I was a child learning and competing in 4H shows with small animals. Since then I have worked as a ward nurse and surgical veterinary technician, volunteered at local animal shelters, managed a pet sitting company, and worked as a pet nutritional consultant for several dog and cat food companies. I am also certified in NJ for Animal control and Animal cruelty investigation.

Working with dogs has always been a passion of mine. Sometimes it’s just surreal to step back and think that we have formed this connection with a completely different species, have found ways to communicate with them, and then we share our homes with them.

Communication is always the most important factor in all of this. For dogs to understand us and us to understand our dogs is the key to make living together harmonious. As a dog trainer, I can help bridge the gap of communication between a human and their dog. That is rewarding to me and something I very much enjoy doing.

Training that Heels is more than just a dog training company, it’s our vision. A vision that we can create, build, and maintain healthier relationships with dogs and their owners.

In my spare time I train and show a dog breed called Alaskan Klee Kai in conformation and sporting competitions. (Think Westminster!). I volunteer for our breed’s rescue, The Alaskan Klee Kai national rescue, as their regional coordinator for NJ, PA, and NY. I formerly served as secretary for the breed’s club, Alaskan Klee Kai Association of America. I also thoroughly enjoy hiking and kayaking, both of which our dogs join in on the fun!

Rachel

Hey! I'm Rachel.

I started out in the pet services world as a dog walker and pet sitter on the side of what my previous career was. I immediately fell in love with working with dogs and had a growing desire to help them. I decided to dedicate my time fully to this new found love and opened my own small business providing dog walking and pet sitting services. Admittedly when I first started working with dogs I was only comfortable handling small to medium-sized dogs. Fast forward a few years later to today and the biggest dog I have trained is a 190 lb Great Dane!

Wanting to further myself in this field I accepted a job at a dog training rehabilitation facility. It is here that I learned the training methods that I practice today: balanced training. I started out as a kennel tech with the responsibility of fulfilling the board dogs needs during their stays. I helped continue their training, and just made sure everyone was having fun!

After some time I took on the additional responsibility of handling the administrative side of things. I would reach out to clients after their initial inquiry and discuss training options while also answering any questions or concerns. This is a role I still hold with Training That Heels as well.

I have a passion for helping these dogs and I believe in the work that we do here. Every morning I wake up excited to go to work because like I often say "the doggies need me!" I am thrilled that my journey over the years has lead me to starting my own company with one of my closets friends.

Since starting working with dogs I developed a goal of working/handling every dog breed… I can’t wait to add your pup to the list!
