We are “Training That Heels” and we are founded and operated by two dog trainers: Rachel & Korine. We have years of experience working hands on with dogs and their owners, we are confident we can help address your dogs specific issues.

This is our journey and we hope to help you and your dog begin one of your own.

What We can train and you can too!

  • Potty training dogs of all ages

  • Crate training/conditioning dogs to be relaxed in the crate

  • Walking in a structured heel

  • Anxious, nervous dog behaviors being worked through in a healthy way

  • Resource guarding and reactivity

  • Bratty behaviors such as: barking, jumping, nipping, chewing, digging, marking, stubbornness, etc.

  • Obedience; Sit/stay, down/stay, recall, and much more!

So what is balanced training?

  • Permission based lifestyle with both ‘yes’ & ‘no’ used. Yes, that’s good behavior and I agree with you, or I’ll allow it- good job! Or no, I do not agree with what you are doing. We build value to the dog on these words through opening a line of communication via tools like prong, e-collar, slip lead, and our bodies.

  • For dogs struggling mentally, having this CLEAR line of communication for almost all their daily choices helps build them up to a healthier state of mind. Adding structure, at the most basic form, starts to clean your dogs behaviors up, teaching them how to make better choices and trust you will lead them.

What is obedience training and how is it different from the behavioral side of things?

  • It’s what you are asking of the dog. Walking in a structured heel, for instance, which keeps the dog focused on a task- keeping them in a healthier mindset. Some other forms of obedience commands are sit, down, place, recall.

  • Not having clear guidance in your life is exhausting mentally. Think of someone giving you a task in things you are not familiar with, with no direction or instruction? Like starting a new job with no training - it’s exhausting! Obedience training gives your dog that guidance of what your expectations are in that particular moment.

If you are struggling in areas with your dog, it means your dog is struggling as well. No matter how big or small that issue is, reach out for the proper help for yourselves. It will benefit both you and your dogs lives together by bringing out the best in yourselves.
